Frequently asked questions

Will this get my WhatsApp number banned?+
SAGE-API uses Evolution API + Baileys, which talks to WhatsApp Web. Like any unofficial integration, very high-volume cold outreach can trigger restrictions. For transactional + opt-in messaging at moderate volumes, we don't see issues. If you need WhatsApp Business Platform (the official Meta API) instead, contact us — we can route you there.
Do I need my own OpenAI key for AI auto-reply?+
No. On Pro Max, AI auto-reply is included — we route through Vercel AI Gateway and pay the cost. You set the system prompt; we handle the rest. Lower tiers don't include AI.
What WhatsApp client are you compatible with?+
WhatsApp on phone (iOS or Android). After provisioning an instance, you scan a QR with WhatsApp → Settings → Linked Devices → Link a Device. Each instance maps to one paired number.
Is my data shared with anyone?+
No. Your messages stay on our infra (PostgreSQL + Redis on Oracle Cloud, Mumbai). We never share customer data with third parties. AI auto-reply messages are forwarded to OpenAI via Vercel AI Gateway only when AI is enabled — you control that.
Can I host it myself?+
The underlying engine (Evolution API) is Apache-2.0, so yes — you can self-host. SAGE-API is the managed SaaS layer with multi-tenant auth, billing, and the dashboard. Enterprise customers can get a dedicated deploy; contact us.
What if I need volume / annual pricing?+
Contact us at info@kavachbrowser.com. We do annual discounts and dedicated capacity for businesses sending 100k+ messages per month.
Can I migrate later?+
Yes. Your message data and contacts live in your instances; we don't lock you in. The send + receive surface is REST + webhooks, easy to swap. Export tools are on the roadmap.
